Harry Kane likely to sign new Bayern Munich...

England captain Harry Kane is likely to sign a new contract at Bayern Munich despite an enquiry from La Liga champions Barcelona to his representatives.

The 32-year-old, who scored 61 goals and registered seven assists in 51 appearances across all competitions during the 2025-26 season, is due to be out of contract in the summer of 2027.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker is keen to remain in Germany despite Barcelona’s enquiry, and the Catalan club have been informed that he is happy in Munich.

Kane had the option to activate a release clause in his contract this summer, though he would have had to inform Bayern of the decision in January, which he opted against.

In their enquiry, Barcelona expressed an interest in Kane and sought to understand his situation, though his representatives made it clear that his future would not be addressed until after the World Cup.

The striker joined Bayern from Spurs in a deal worth more than €100million (£86.4m; $110m) in August 2023 after spending 19 years with the north London side, where he became their all-time leading goalscorer with 280 goals.

He has since gone on to register 146 goals for Bayern, making him the seventh-highest goalscorer in their history after just three seasons and has won the league title in two of those years.

Kane said in November it was “very unlikely” he would leave the Bundesliga club at the end of this season. Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, said in January that they were in discussions with Kane over a new deal.

Kane has won 117 caps for England, scoring a national-record 82 goals. He has increased his World Cup goal tally this month, netting a pair of goals in the 4-2 win Croatia and scoring England’s second in the 2-0 win against Panama to take his all-time total at the competition to 11. The striker is set to lead England out against DR Congo on Wednesday in the round of 32 as the side prepares for their first knockout game under Thomas Tuchel.
